Bresnan back as England bat first
India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni made a brave call to send England in after winning the toss on his big day in Ranchi.
The third match of the Airtel Series is the first ever international to be held in Dhoni's home city, creating a distinct carnival atmosphere in the 39,000 capacity JSCA Stadium.
The first two matches have been won by the team who batted first, but Dhoni chose to insert the tourists on a pitch that is as unknown to India as it is to England.
Yorkshire's Tim Bresnan returned in place of Chris Woakes after missing the second ODI due to discomfort above his knee.
India named an unchanged XI.
