Brighton pair are the 'best'
Brighton assistant manager Nathan Jones has hailed Matthew Upson and Gordon Greer as the best central-defensive partnership in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Seagulls have proved to be a stingy foe on the road this term, conceding a league-low 10 goals in 14 away matches.
They racked up another clean-sheet at Turf Moor against Burnley on Tuesday night when strike-duo Danny Ings and Sam Vokes, who have scored 34 times between them this season, were kept largely quiet.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche accused Brighton of approaching the game with an ultra-defensive attitude, but Jones instead lavished praise on ex-England international Upson and Scotland cap Greer.
"We've watched many of the games they've had and they get many chances, proper chances to score a goal," Jones said of Burnley's two strikers.
"The two of them are probably the best partnership in the league, but we feel we have the best defensive partnership in the league in Matty Upson and Gordon Greer. We kind of negated that so if that came out as a negative...I just think that's fantastic play from us.
"Let's not forget we've taken four points off Burnley this year and I don't think many can do that.
"We didn't come for a draw, we came for all three points, but that wasn't to be the case.
"If we had nicked it I would have sat here and said: 'Well, we've come here and done a classic away performance'. But I defy anyone to tell us we came here just for one point."
