Bristol City see of Zebras

A late penalty gave Bristol City a 1-0 win over the Botswana Zebras in the final match of their pre-season tour of southern Africa.

Botswana's national team gave Steve Cotterill's side few chances throughout and it took a late set-piece to settle the match.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was one of a number of players to come off the bench and he stepped up to slot home the spot-kick six minutes from time, which was awarded after Greg Cunningham's cross was clearly handled.

Reds manager Cotterill told the club's YouTube channel: "These are the type of challenging games we want. They didn't stop running, they pressed hard and they are tough boys.

"It was a definite penalty, if it wasn't given, we would have been playing basketball!"The second-half changes disrupted us a little but then we got into a rhythm and we were good all-round tonight. It was a good game.

"I've been happy with the whole tour, it's been first class. We've enjoyed the cultural side of it, the safari aspect and the team bonding. I couldn't have asked for a better trip."
