Brookes fastest at Oulton Park

Australia's Josh Brookes set the fastest time in free practice for the British Superbike Championship meeting at Oulton Park.

The Tyco Suzuki rider clocked one minute 36.325 seconds in the second session to edge out Shane Byrne (Kawasaki) and Yamaha's Tommy Hill.

Reigning champion Hill had been fastest in the opening free practice session.

"I'm feeling good, not over confident and have to keep working on it,

but I am focused on the job and concentrating on doing my own thing," said Brookes, who trails championship leader Ian Lowry by two points in the overall standings.

The first race of the meeting is Sunday with the final two on Monday.
