Brown impressed by Johnson
Scotland skipper Kelly Brown claims caretaker coach Scott Johnson has sweet-talked his way to the hearts of the Dark Blues' players.
The 50-year-old Australian's press briefings have become famous for his one-liners and quirky turns of phrase.
Now Brown insists the interim boss - who stepped up from assistant coach to replace Andy Robinson following his resignation - has done enough to merit being handed the job on a full-time basis after leading Scotland to two wins from their four Six Nations fixtures so far.
Brown, who will lead the Scots out against France in Paris on Saturday evening, said: "The boys have really enjoyed working with Scott. He's got an incredible turn of phrase. Some of his lines are unbelievable.
"Have I got a favourite? I quite like his line about stats being like a bikini - they show you a lot but not the whole thing. That one was quite good.
"He's always got a bit of humour in the changing room but behind all of these, there is a serious message and these quips are just his way of making the point.
"All the guys have bought into what he's been trying to do.
"If you look at our performances over the championship, there is no doubt we have made improvements, so I think Scott has put down a good marker for the job - but it's not my call."
Former England head coach Robinson walked away from the Scotland job after his side were shocked 21-15 by Tonga in the Autumn Internationals.
Johnson's ebullient nature was in stark contrast to the more serious tone adopted by his predecessor but Brown insists both men have done well for their adopted nation.
He said: "Anytime there is a new coach, by the very nature of it, there is a bit of freshness because it's different people involved.
"I enjoyed working with Andy, just as I enjoy working with Scott now. They are very different but in my opinion are both very good coaches."
