Bruce and Warnock tipped for job

Steve Bruce and Neil Warnock are joint 6/1 favourites in Sky Bet's next Wolves manager betting after Mick McCarthy was sacked on Monday.

After a run of poor results which has seen Wolves drop into the relegation zone, McCarthy was dismissed the day after his side were thrashed 5-1 at home by local rivals West Brom.

Former Sunderland boss Bruce and recently-sacked QPR chief Warnock lead the market ahead of Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman (8/1) and ex-Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies (10/1).

Gianfranco Zola has been priced at 12/1 with the online betting company to make a return to the Premier League, with Blackpool boss Ian Holloway and Southampton manager Nigel Adkins also available at the same price.

Sky Bet's PR Director Dale Tempest said: "Wolves need to turn things around quickly and both Bruce and Warnock have experience in relegation battles.

"Whether Warnock will want another top-flight job so quickly after leaving QPR remains to be seen, so Bruce looks to be the more likely candidate at his early stage."

what do you think?

For the life of me I cannot understand how these clubs think they can be better off bringing in a manager who himself was sacked for poor results....Mick McCarthy would surely be the better bet in getting Wolves out of this predicament knowing the players etc, than bringing in another manager who themselves were sacked for poor results with clubs in similar situations,

The two names mentioned are only being tipped for the job - it doesn't mean they'll get it. I liked big Mick but he's forever saying that he'll be happy to finish the season one goal better off than the team in third bottom spot. If that's the level of his ambition then Wolves are never going to emulate the likes of Stoke and become a credible Premiership outfit. He had to go while there's enough left of the season for someone to try and turn things around.
