Bruce buoyed by signings
Steve Bruce is delighted to have drafted Robert Snodgrass and Tom Ince, players with something different, into his Hull City squad.
With Hull about to add Europa League commitments to an already hectic schedule, adding depth to the ranks was imperative this summer.
Bruce has been able to do that, with Snodgrass snapped up for a fee of around £7million from Norwich City and Ince acquired at the end of his contract at Blackpool.
Both are creative talents with Premier League and international experience - at senior and U21 level - and are being tipped to make a major impact at the KC Stadium.
Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail: \"I spoke with (former Norwich boss) Chris Hughton recently and he said we've got Norwich's best player.
\"Snodgrass ripped us to bits down at Norwich last year.
\"I've always seen him because he played with my son (Alex) at Leeds and I always liked him.
\"There's a natural ability to beat a player and he's got great deliveries. He's 26 and in his prime. We were short in wide areas last year and he'll give us a supply line.
\"Not just that, he offers you goals. Everyone in the Premier League is disciplined and has good players so the hardest thing is scoring goals. He can add another string to our bow.\"
As will Ince, who shunned offers from elsewhere, including Inter Milan, to link up with Hull.
Bruce added: \"He's a little bit unknown in the Premier League. He had a little spell on loan at Crystal Palace and he's got great ability.
\"Again, he's something we haven't got. He's a bit different. He can beat a man and score a goal.
\"I've known him since he was a boy and that trust in me maybe just swayed it.
\"He had an offer from Inter Milan, I know that for a fact, but he decided it was too soon to go out there.
\"Paul (Ince) went out there when he was 27 and found it difficult, let alone 22.
\"We gave it to him straight. I bought him a cup of coffee and a cheese toastie and hoped it would be enough. Thankfully, it was.\"
