Bruce wary of resurgent United

The upturn in form by Manchester United is not a surprise, says Hull manager Steve Bruce.

The Premier League champions take on the Tigers at the KC Stadium on Boxing Day, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 12.30pm, and will be confident of securing the spoils on their travels looking for a fifth consecutive win.

It has though been a stuttering start to his first season in charge for David Moyes with United currently lying eighth, four places above Bruce's men.

Bruce, a United player from 1987 to 1996, is relishing the prospect of facing his old team but is only too aware of the challenge that awaits.

"I have never beaten them," said Bruce, who will be desperate to pick up only their second win of the month having drawn their last three Premier League games.

"Over the Christmas period, we host the champions and they've run into some form which you would expect them to do.

"Always in my experience when Man United come to town, it's the biggest and best occasion. For all of us at Hull, what better thing to have than have them on Boxing Day.

"Traditionally it's the biggest gate you have and it's just a great occasion for all of us."

It will be the first time Bruce goes head-to-head with Moyes in the United dug-out following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in the summer.

Bruce added: "It will be odd. We're all getting used to David Moyes standing there but the change has happened.

"Let's enjoy the challenge and see if we can take something off them."
