Bunker has Dante date
Bunker is set to put his Investec Derby credentials on the line in next week's Betfred Dante Stakes at York.
The Richard Hannon-trained colt enjoyed a fine juvenile campaign, winning on his debut before being edged out by Berkshire in the Chesham at Royal Ascot.
He then claimed a Deauville Listed race, beating subsequent Group One winner Karakontie by a short head over seven furlongs, before being put away for a Classic campaign this term.
The son of Hurricane Run is as low as 20-1 for the Derby and Harry Herbert, racing advisor to part-owner Al Shaqab Racing, expects the Dante to give a good sighter on Bunker's Classic potential.
He said: "It's all systems go for the Dante, fingers crossed.
"He's in good form and has physically done very well from two to three. His form from last year looks very strong as well.
"It's going to be a red-hot Dante, though, and we'll see what we've got.
"We need to know where he fits in the bigger picture and if he is a Derby horse or whether another race might be better for him.
"He will run next week, all being well, and then we will know if we have a Derby horse or not."
