Burton Albion v Southend preview

Team news for the League Two play-off semi-final clash between Burton Albion and Southend at the Pirelli Stadium on Sunday (12pm kick-off).

Burton could be boosted by the return of Adam McGurk for their play-off semi-final first leg against Southend at the Pirelli Stadium.

McGurk has missed the last four matches with a groin injury but the forward has trained this week and his sharpness will be assessed ahead of Sunday's clash.

However, key defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff (Achilles) is likely to remain on the sidelines so Marcus Holness will continue in the team.

Holness should partner Ian Sharps at centre-half after the Albion captain was rested against the Shrimpers last weekend. Striker Billy Kee was also given the final day of the season off and he too comes back into the reckoning.

Southend boss Phil Brown could name the same starting line-up for the fifth game running against Burton in the first leg of their play-off semi-final.

Brown has no new injury or suspension problems following a run of one defeat in their last 11 matches and will be loathe to tinker with a winning formula.

Southend beat Burton at Roots Hall in their final game of the regular season thanks to a first-half header from Barry Corr, who looks set to spearhead the attack again alongside Kevan Hurst and Jacob Murphy.

That will mean a place on the bench for Freddy Eastwood, Bedsente Gomis and Lee Barnard as the Shrimpers bid to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.
