Buxton keen to prove his worth

Jake Buxton is ready to prove himself all over again at Derby County and become a regular in the first-team next season.

A succession of back and groin problems led to the 27-year-old defender enduring almost 18 months on the sidelines before he returned to Nigel Clough's squad in the closing months of the 2011-12 campaign.

He signed a new two-year deal in April and has now set his sights on being a long-term mainstay in the Rams' rearguard.

"When I have been fit and not troubled by injury I think I've proved I can perform in the Championship," Buxton told the club's official website.

"I feel the fans and the club have been happy with me when I've contributed and I think everyone knows I've given my all from the minute I arrived.

"My main aim is to remain fit for as long as possible and contribute to the side. I want to get my name on the teamsheet as often as possible."
