Cahill makes history for Red Bulls
Tim Cahill scored the fastest goal in MLS history as the New York Red Bulls won 3-0 at Houston Dynamo.
The Red Bulls stormed back to the top of the eastern conference with the victory.
The former Everton midfielder opened the scoring after just seven seconds with a thumping right-foot shot from just outside the area to smash the previous record by four seconds.
Ibrahim Sekagya doubled New York's lead after 65 minutes before substitute Bradley Wright-Phillips sealed victory in the 65th minute to leave Houston Dynamo outside the play-off places with one game of the regular season remaining.
Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Galaxy missed out on the chance to go top of the western conference following a goalless draw at home to the San Jose Earthquakes.
The Galaxy would have leapfrogged league leaders Portland Timbers with victory by two or more goals but they were frustrated by San Jose.
