Caldwell injury blow for Blues
Birmingham have suffered a huge blow with the news that Steven Caldwell will play no further part this season due to injury.
The influential centre-back was forced off in the first half of Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Ipswich nursing a groin problem.
Caldwell, stand-in skipper with right-back Stephen Carr also currently sidelined, has been a key part of a City defence which is the seventh meanest in the Championship and tightest of all on home soil.
The injury setback is the latest to hit Blues' hopes of promotion, with first-choice goalkeeper Boaz Myhill as well as midfielders Guirane N'Daw, Keith Fahey and Jordon Mutch recently sidelined, joining Carr and Jonathan Spector.
