Calipto leads Triumph hopefuls

All the leading fancies, headed by ante-post favourite Calipto, were among 26 in the six-day entries for the JCB Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Paul Nicholls' French import has created a big impression in winning both his starts in Britain.

His main rival in the market has been the Nick Williams-trained ex-French Le Rocher, who has lifted Chepstow's Finale Hurdle and the Triumph Hurdle Trial at Cheltenham.

Harry Fry's Activial booked his place with victory in the Adonis at Kempton recently, while other fancied members of the home team include the John Ferguson-trained Broughton, Nicky Henderson's Royal Irish Hussar and John Quinn's duo of Pearl Castle and Rutherglen.

The Irish have a strong contingent, with Dessie Hughes, successful with Our Conor 12 months ago, relying on Guitar Pete this time.

Willie Mullins has five possibles in Abbyssial, Ivan Grozny, Noble Inn, Adriana Des Mottes and Gitane Du Berlais, while Gordon Elliott has Tiger Roll and Clarcam.
