Canarias on July Cup trail
Noozhoh Canarias is set to take in a prep race at Maisons-Laffitte next month on his way to a tilt at the Darley July Cup at Newmarket.
Enrique Leon Penate's stable star was a brilliant winner on his three-year-old debut in Madrid and connections quickly decided to send the exciting colt for the 2000 Guineas on the Rowley Mile.
Although he came up short in the season's opening Classic, he was far from disgraced in finishing sixth behind the likes of Night Of Thunder, Kingman and Australia.
The trainer said: "Everything has been very good since the Guineas and the plan is to run him in a six-furlong Listed race at Maisons-Laffitte (Prix Marchand d'Or, June 13) before coming back to Newmarket for the July Cup.
"We want to try him back over shorter than the mile he ran in the Guineas as he is a horse with a lot of speed.
"I am very pleased the Guineas form is working out so well. It is very nice.
"We thought before the Guineas that it looked a very strong race and everything looks good so far."
