Cardinals on level terms

The St Louis Cardinals levelled up their National League Divisional Series series with the Washington Nationals after a 12-4 win in game two.

Carlos Beltran homered twice and Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia managed just two innings before succumbing to a shoulder problem.

But a four-run second for the Cardinals and consistent scoring thereafter meant that was never an issue.

Allen Craig and Daniel Descalso also homered for the Cardinals.

Wei-Yin Chen turned in a strong performance and Chris Davis led the offence as the Baltimore Orioles edged out the New York Yankees 3-2.

Chen allowed two runs, one earned, in 6 1/3 innings while Davis had two hits and two RBI to help the Orioles square the ALDS series at 1-1.
