Carter sees off Robertson

Ali Carter booked his place in the final of the Betfair German Masters with a 6-2 semi-final victory over Neil Robertson on Saturday.

Carter took advantage of a poor display from Robertson to advance to Sunday's final, where he will face either Marco Fu or Barry Hawkins.

The former world championship finalist won a safety battle on the yellow before clearing up the colours to take the opening frame, before also claiming a scrappy second.

Robertson won the next to reduce his deficit but Carter won frame four to take a 3-1 lead into the mid-session interval.

That soon became 5-1 and although Robertson finally found some form with a break of 90 - the highest in the match - to stay alive, the Australian then missed a vital pink in frame eight to allow Carter in to seal victory.
