More than £70,000 has been spent on drainage at Castle Stuart near Inverness after flooding reduced last year's Scottish Open to 54 holes.
Course manager Chris Haspell said the work had been undertaken as a precaution, despite the course traditionally being one of the driest in Britain.
"It will help keep play moving at all times," Haspell added.
"In any normal weather year this wouldn't be necessary, but we were very keen to work with The European Tour and the players to help make Castle Stuart a great venue for tournament golf even under the severest of conditions."
Luke Donald, whose closing 63 at Castle Stuart last year was the lowest round of his Tour career, will defend his title on July 12-15, the week before the Open Championship at Royal Lytham.
