Cech: Draw was fair result
Petr Cech admits Galatasaray were full value for a 1-1 draw with Chelsea, with the home support playing their part in securing a positive result.
Chelsea arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday hoping to establish a foothold in their UEFA Champions League last-16 encounter.
Their evening started brightly, with Fernando Torres firing the Blues into an early lead.
Jose Mourinho's side were unable to build on that opener, though, and saw Galatasaray play their way back into the tie.
They levelled after the interval through Aurelien Chedjou, and Cech concedes that the two sides deserve to head for Stamford Bridge all square.
The Czech goalkeeper wrote on his personal website: "After how the match went, the draw is fair.
"We are now in a position where we will go through with any win, but Galatasaray showed their strength and nothing is decided yet.
"We had a lot of counter attacks which we could have done better with and gone 2-0 up. It's a pity we didn't do that.
"In the first half we played aggressively, we did a lot of running and maybe we ran out of energy because of that.
"Suddenly we were not in control and we had to defend a lot as Galatasaray came to life with the help of their fans."
Gala's loyal fan base certainly made themselves heard, with Cech praising them for generating the best atmosphere he has ever experienced.
He added: "The atmosphere was infernal. The loudest I have experienced in my career.
"It was an incredible roar. When they started to boo or whistle, you could really feel it. Sometimes they were throwing coins and lighters but they didn't hit me, fortunately.
"The fans really are huge for Galatasaray. It's not easy to play there because they push their team forward enormously."
