Celtic v Partick preview

Celtic are hoping that Charlie Mulgrew will be passed fit for the New Year's Day match against Partick Thistle.

The defender has not featured since the 6-1 defeat by Barcelona earlier this month due to a groin injury.

Full-back Adam Matthews and winger James Forrest proved their fitness in recent games, although the match has come too soon for Derk Boerrigter, who is nearing a comeback after a hamstring problem.

Celtic stretched their unbeaten run to 18 league games over the festive period, but had to work for narrow 1-0 away wins at St Johnstone and Inverness.

Partick boss Alan Archibald has doubts over Jordan McMillan and Christie Elliott ahead of the trip to the East End of Glasgow.

Both players are struggling with a virus and new loan signing Lyle Taylor is likely to be added to the squad.

Isaac Osbourne (ankle) and Sean Welsh (groin) remain on the sidelines, while Gary Fraser is suspended.
