Nigel Twiston-Davies is eyeing a tilt at the Champion Bumper with Pure Science following his brilliant racecourse debut at Warwick on Saturday.
The five-year-old is bred to be a classy Flat horse being by Galileo out of a Group One-winning mare in Rebelline, but carrying the famous colours of Raymond Mould, the chestnut made a most impressive start to his career under National Hunt rules.
He is a best priced 16-1 for the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in March and Twiston-Davies plans to give him another run to determine whether he is up to such a challenge.
"He was very good. I'm not sure what we beat but he couldn't have done it any easier," said Twiston-Davies.
"We'll give him another run somewhere in a couple of weeks and if he wins that, then we can think about going to Cheltenham.
"I wasn't sure what to expect from him yesterday. You are always hopeful but he'd not been a sparkling workhorse at home."
