Charlton quits Workington
Workington are looking for a new coach just a week into the season after Gary Charlton quit the Kingstone Press Championship club.
Charlton took over the reins jointly with Martin Oglanby in July 2009
and guided the Cumbrians to promotion in 2012. They qualified for the play-offs last season, but began the 2014 campaign with a 22-12 home defeat by Doncaster last Sunday.
"I am leaving a great club with fantastic people but I know in my heart that I've taken the club as far as I can," Charlton said. "Alongside Martin, we achieved all the objectives that we were set by the board of directors but it is time for the club to move to the next level."
Workington say they will be seeking to make a coaching appointment as soon as possible.
