Chases abandoned at Taunton

An all-hurdle and bumper card has been programmed for Taunton on Tuesday after the chase events were abandoned due to waterlogging.

Bob Young, chief executive at Taunton, said: "Even though the course has only had a further 30mm of rain since February 7, it has still not fully recovered from the deluge it received prior to that. The hurdle course remains heavy, but the steeplechase course is still waterlogged in places.

"We are grateful to the Racing Department at the British Horseracing Authority for again helping us to run an all-hurdle card with a bumper to finish.

"The forecast is now settled for the next week or so and we hope we will back on track for our meeting on February 28."
