Chelsea beaten, Reds win again

Chelsea were stunned at Stoke, Liverpool thumped West Ham while there were also wins for Crystal Palace and Norwich in the Premier League.

Chelsea missed the chance to make up some ground on leaders Arsenal as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.

Andre Schurrle scored in each half for the Blues while Peter Crouch, Stephen Ireland and substitute Oussama Assaidi netted one apiece for the Potters, who lost Charlie Adam to a first-half injury.

The loss saw Jose Mourinho's side drop to third behind Liverpool,

level on 30 points with the Reds and four behind the Gunners.

Liverpool fired four goals past 10-man West Ham as they moved up two places following a match that saw three own goals scored in the 4-1 scoreline.

Guy Demel was unfortunate to gift the Reds the lead just before the break before Mamadou Sakho and Luis Suarez netted either side of Martin Skrtel's blunder which pulled one back for the Hammers.

Joey O'Brien then sent the ball into his own net to complete the scoring in the match which saw Kevin Nolan sent off after 82 minutes.

Pablo Osvaldo cancelled out Sergio Aguero's opener to end Manchester City's four-match winning run as Manuel Pellegrini's side were held to a 1-1 draw against Southampton at St Mary's and dropped down to fourth.

New manager Tony Pulis recorded his second win in charge of Crystal Palace following Tuesday night's victory over West Ham as they saw off Cardiff 2-0 at Selhurst Park.

Cameron Jerome's early header put the Eagles ahead before Marouane Chamakh netted his second goal in two matches to move Palace up to 18th spot.

Norwich bounced back from their midweek thrashing at Anfield as goals from Gary Hooper and Leroy Fer earned them a valuable win over West Brom at The Hawthorns.

Hooper scored the opener in the 13th minute before Fer finished off a sharp counter late on to seal a 2-0 victory as the Canaries pulled away from the danger zone into 14th, two points above their opponents.
