Cibulkova books final spot
Top seed Dominika Cibulkova battled through another two-and-a-half-hour marathon to book her place in the final of the Malaysian Open.
One day after nudging past Zarina Diyas in the last eight, the world number 10 was forced to fight back from behind again to beat Czech Karolina Pliskova 6-7 (3/7) 6-3 6-3 in Kuala Lumpur.
Cibulkova broke her world number 75-ranked opponent five times and finished strongly as she did not give her opponent a single break-point opportunity in the deciding set.
Cibulkova will face seventh-seeded Croatian Donna Vekic in the Sunday final after the world number 95 survived a nightmare first set to beat Chinese second seed Shuai Zhang 1-6 6-3 6-4.
