Cirrus cruises to Dollar success

Cirrus Des Aigles made a sensational return after four and a half months off the track to land the Qatar Prix Dollar at Longchamp.

He absolutely bolted up in this Group Two contest, which he won in 2010 and was just touched off in 12 months ago.

The six-year-old moved up smoothly for Olivier Peslier early in the straight after Don Bosco had made the running.

Leading two furlongs out, the 4-5 favourite stretched clear in impressive fashion to win easily from the Godolphin-owned Hunter's Light, who stayed on for second ahead of Saga Dream with John Gosden's Colombian fourth.

Cirrus Des Aigles had last been seen finishing second in the Prix d'Ispahan, following which he was eventually disqualified after testing positive to a prohibited substance.

His trainer Corine Barande-Barbe has strongly denied any wrongdoing and is still trying to get to the bottom of the matter which is still ongoing.

This race had been seen as a prep race for the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot which he won last October and in which he is set to clash with the mighty Frankel.
