City end interest in Porto duo
Manchester City are understood to have ended their interest in Porto duo Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando.
City had been holding talks throughout the day over a deal in the region of £35m for centre-back Mangala and midfield team-mate Fernando.
But a plane which was booked to bring the pair over to Manchester has been cancelled and the club are not expected to buy or sell any players before the transfer deadline.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini had been cagey about the club's transfer targets when he spoke to the media.
"For the moment, there is no news," he said. "Tomorrow (Saturday) everyone will know what has happened.
"Tomorrow you will know what happened. It's the same thing (for players leaving).
"There is a lot of business but no news."
It was believed that Javi Garcia and Marcos Lopes could have been used as makeweights as part of the deal.
