City in stalemate, Hoops win

Manchester City were held to a 0-0 friendly draw by Dynamo Dresden in Innsbruck on Tuesday, while Celtic and QPR both won and West Ham lost.

Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez all started for City, who were beaten 1-0 by Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal on Friday, but they were unable to find the net for the second friendly game running.

Tevez played in Portuguese youngster Marcos Lopes whose effort was well blocked by Sebastian Schuppan, but the best chance of the first half fell to German second division club Dresden.

City keeper Costel Pantilimon made a hash of a long-range shot and was then forced into a point-blank save to deny David Solga from the rebound.

Roberto Mancini introduced Vladimir Weiss after the break and he went close to breaking the deadlock with a clever lob that substitute keeper Florian Fromilowitz just managed to claw away.

Trialist striker Mario Jelavic also looked to impress Mancini with an energetic second-half display.

City suffered a late scare as defender Vincent Kompany limped off the pitch with a hamstring injury before the game fizzled out to a dull draw.

Elsewhere, Celtic completed their three-match pre-season tour of Germany with a 2-1 win over VfR Aalen, newly promoted to the 2. Bundesliga.

The Hoops looked sharper than they have been in their previous games, but had to come from behind to earn the victory at the Scholz-Arena.

Aalen took the lead from a free-kick when Benjamin Hubner followed up to poke home after Fraser Foster had blocked the initial header.

Although Celtic looked promising going forward, Forster twice came to the rescue as Aalen created better chances.

Seconds after joining the action, Paddy McCourt combined with Dylan McGeough to set up Gary Hooper to level.

Celtic completed the comeback on 77 minutes when Tony Stokes poked the ball through the keeper's legs following good play from James Forrest and Scott Brown.

West Ham lost 1-0 to League Two outfit Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium. Mark Noble, Kevin Nolan and Carlton Cole were among those in the Hammers starting line-up but Deane Smalley's 36th-minute half-volley settled the friendly.

Djibril Cisse scored twice as QPR kicked off their pre-season tour of Malaysia and Indonesia with a 5-0 win over Malaysian side Sabah.

Cisse's double eased Rangers into their tour and he was joined on the scoresheet by team-mates Heidar Helguson, Bobby Zamora and Jay Bothroyd.

A youthful West Bromwich Albion line-up fell to a 1-0 defeat at Worcester City with Mike Symons grabbing the only goal, while Reading won 3-2 at Ebbsfleet thanks to goals from Jake Taylor, Jordan Obita and Brett Williams.

North of the border, Motherwell were held to a 1-1 draw by Raith Rovers at Starks Park. Jamie Murphy put Well in front early in the second half, and Paddy Clark headed Raith's equaliser seven minutes from time.

Daniel Moore's eighth-minute penalty gave Third Division Elgin a 1-0 win over Aberdeen, while SPL new boys Ross County were held to a goalless draw at Nairn County.
