Cliff takes Cup leap

Connections of Tiger Cliff are realistic in their ambitions of Sky Bet Yorkshire Cup glory on Friday.

Now in the care of Alan King, the five-year-old stayer will return to the scene of his finest hour after he claimed the Ebor, when trained by Lady Cecil, at York last August.

Owner Henry Ponsonby said: "He's definitely an intended runner, but he has a lot to do on the ratings.

"It's a big gap to bridge between winning a handicap in the Ebor and this, but time will tell whether we are good enough.

"I'm very happy the rain has arrived, but it's forecast to be dry from Wednesday onwards."
