Colback eyes Saints win

Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback has targeted this weekend's fixture home fixture against Southampton as being crucial in order to get out the relegation drop zone promptly.

The 24 year-old versatile midfielder is an academy product of Sunderland's youth system and has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season scoring one goal.

Sunderland are currently on a run of only one defeat in nine, including three wins in a row in all competitions, something that Colback thinks is vital if the club are to avoid relegation.

The versatile midfielder told the Sunderland Echo: "It has been great to get a decent run going, especially away from home."

"Now we need to start putting a couple of good league results together in a row, which we've been unable to do all this season.

"It's amazing what a difference a couple of wins strung together makes in this league.

"We've seen other clubs do it over the course of the season and now we need to do the same."

Colback was confident when talking about his side's chances against their south coast counterparts stating: "We took a point from their place and beat them in the cup, although I know they fielded a very different side that night.

Southampton are a very good side and I think people have recognised that.

"It will be a tough game but I know we will go into it with a lot of confidence."
