Commander struggling for Haydock

Nigel Twiston-Davies has warned it could be "quite tight" to get Imperial Commander ready for the Betfair Chase at Haydock on November 24.

Imperial Commander has not been seen in public since pulling up with a broken blood vessel in the 2011 Gold Cup when trying to defend his title.

He missed the whole of last season with a tendon injury but returned to the Gloucestershire handler in September having done plenty of road work in Ireland.

"He's ticking along nicely and the Betfair Chase is the plan but it's five weeks away, which will be quite tight as he hasn't been back with us long," said Twiston-Davies.
