Cooper undergoes surgery

Bryan Cooper has undergone surgery in Gloucester Hospital after breaking his right leg in a fall at Cheltenham on Wednesday.

Cooper, who is retained rider for powerful Irish owners Gigginstown House Stud, fell at the second-last flight aboard the Gordon Elliott-trained Clarcam in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle.

Irish Turf Club senior medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick reports Cooper to have suffered a "very complex" fracture.

He said: "Bryan is in theatre and will be there for a couple of hours as he suffered a very complex fracture to his leg.

"He's in very, very good hands and is being treated by one of the best surgeons so we are pleased about that."
