Crawley v Ipswich preview

Crawley's Matt Harrold is definitely out of the Capital One Cup clash against Ipswich after having minor surgery on his knee.

Harold, who arrived from Bristol Rovers in the summer, is expected to remain sidelined for their next three matches.

Captain Josh Simpson had to be replaced at half-time during their opening-day win over Barnsley and he appeared on crutches to watch the second half. Manager John Gregory insists it was just a precaution, but confirmed Simpson will miss the Ipswich clash.

Gavin Tomlin, who suffered a hamstring injury in pre-season against Chelsea, was an unused sub in the match at Oakwell and he could feature.

Ipswich are set to make a host of changes for the trip, with up to 10 players unavailable following Saturday's Championship win over Fulham.

Jonathan Parr, Cameron Stewart, Stephen Hunt and Paul Anderson are all ruled out, while David McGoldrick, Cole Skuse, Tyrone Mings, Daryl Murphy, Tommy Smith and Luke Hyam are also struggling for fitness and may not be risked.

However, Mick McCarthy has confirmed that both Jack Marriott and Matt Clarke will start and he was pleased to see McGoldrick score on his return from a five-month absence against the Cottagers after suffering a knee injury against Blackpool back in February.

"It was great to see Didz back," said McCarthy. "We didn't think he'd make the first game a few weeks back but he has worked really hard and the physios must take credit as well. He's top quality and it was a boost for everyone to see him out there."
