Crewe v Shrewsbury preview

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Crewe and Shrewsbury at Alexandra Stadium.

Crewe hope to have last season's top scorer Mathias Pogba back at some point over the festive period, though he is expected to miss the clash with Shrewsbury.

While this clash may be too soon for Pogba, who has not appeared this term because of a knee injury, boss Steve Davis is confident the striker can play a part in the near future.

Davis, who also has forward Vadaine Oliver back from suspension, is likely to start with teenager Ben Garratt in goal again due to injuries to loanee Neil Etheridge (thigh), Steve Phillips (shoulder) and Alan Martin's illness.

Teenager Ryan Colclough (stomach) is still missing, as is striker Max Clayton (ankle) and defender Ollie Turton (knee).

Manager Graham Turner is set to ring the changes for Shrewsbury's trip to Crewe.

Turner was less than impressed with Town's abject display last weekend as they fell to a 1-0 home defeat against midlands neighbours Walsall.

That means the likes of Nicky Wroe, Dave Winfield, David McAllister, Tom Bradshaw, Jon Taylor and John Marsden are all in the frame for recalls at Gresty Road.

Town are unlikely to boast any new injury or suspension concerns but midfielder Aaron Wildig remains sidelined until the new year with his knee problem.
