Former New Zealand batsman Martin Crowe has been diagnosed with cancer, according to reports.
The former Black Caps skipper's manager, Louise Henderson, said in a statement reported by www.stuff.co.nz the 50-year-old has lymphoma and was trying to come to terms with the news.
Henderson said: "Understandably the family have a number of issues to confront over the next couple of weeks, the diagnosis is very new, the family is still in shock and obviously dealing with the understanding that life as they know it for the unforeseeable future is different."
Crowe made 77 Test appearances for New Zealand over 14 years, scoring a national record 17 centuries, before having to retire at
the age of 33 with a knee injury.
