Cafu scored for Anorthosis Famagusta but CSKA Moscow reached the Europa League group stages after a 2-1 win sealed a 6-1 aggregate victory.
Cafu opened the scoring after 76 minutes of the second leg of their play-off tie in Cyprus before Seydou Doumbia levelled things with five minutes to go and Mark Gonzalez netted a late winner.
CSKA had led the tie 4-0 after overwhelming their opponents in the first leg in Moscow but were kept at bay until the final five minutes.
