Cullen ends Blackhawks run
Matt Cullen bookended the game as the Minnesota Wild handed the Chicago Blackhawks their first defeat of the season with a 3-2 shootout win.
Cullen opened the scoring in the second minute, then scored the decisive shootout goal for the Wild.
Cal Clutterbuck got the Wild's second after first-period goals from Andrew Shaw and Jonathan Toews had put Chicago 2-1 up and seemingly on their way to a seventh straight win.
Roberto Luongo justified his selection with a shutout as the Vancouver Canucks beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-0.
Picked ahead of Cory Schneider, Luongo made 24 saves, while Jason Garrison scored his first goal for Vancouver.
Maxim Lapierre and Zack Kassian also scored for the Canucks.
Elsewhere, Nail Yakupov's overtime goal gave the Edmonton Oilers a 2-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes and the Ottawa Senators beat the Montreal Canadiens 5-1.
