Curle keen on County progress

Keith Curle is determined for Notts County to improve after they narrowly missed out on the League One play-offs despite edging Colchester 4-1.

Stevenage's win at home to Bury on Saturday meant the Magpies missed out on a chance to gain promotion as, despite the team's finishing level on points, Curle's side finished with a vastly inferior goal difference.

It was still improved significantly as Jeff Hughes, Daniel Bogdanovic, Alan Judge and Kieron Freeman netted with Anthony Wordsworth pulling one back for the U's at the death.

Summing up the season, Curle, who took over midway through the campaign from Martin Allen, said: "It's been a fantastic effort but we didn't quite make it. We hope that next season will be even better.

"We need to take this club to where they deserve to be.

"The players have been fantastic and I said when I came in that whatever they achieved would be to their credit. We needed to unite the football club and we've done that."
