Danzeno bounces back

Michael Appleby's Danzeno (9/4) landed the Group 3 Betfred TV Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle on Saturday.

The three-year-old was a very well-backed favourite for a handicap at York last time but blew his chance when getting worked up in the stalls and eventually finished ninth.

He was a bit reluctant to go in the stalls again at Newcastle, but was loaded last and popped out fine under Andrew Mullen as Body And Soul took them along.

Saayerr (2/1 favourite) looked the main threat throughout the contest but it was Ruwaiyan (7/1) that gave the winner most to do, staying on well to get within three-quarters-of-a-length at the line.

Mullen told At The Races: "He's very headstrong for a three-year-old and I was hoping something would take me along. He's done it well in the end.

"He's still thinking about it a bit [going in the stalls] and he wouldn't want to be there too long."

Mullen added: "Luckily, I got a split just when I wanted one and he'll improve a lot for this.

"Put him in a nice race against good horses over six furlongs and when we get him to settle you'll see him at his best.

"I think he was still thinking about what happened to him at York, that's why he wasn't keen on going in the stalls.

"My biggest worry wasn't the race, it was getting him in the stalls."
