Davids sees potential in Bees

Edgar Davids admits he has plenty of work ahead of him after seeing Barnet crushed 4-1 by Plymouth in his first game as joint-head coach.

Davids, 39, a Champions League winner with Ajax and former Holland international, joined League Two's bottom club this week to assist manager Mark Robson and was quickly given a taste of their troubles.

And after seeing first-hand the state the Bees are in, Davids insists he is ready to roll his sleeves up and help out.

"I sat up in the stand for a better view but I am disappointed when we lose to set-pieces," he said. "We have to work on that. I saw some good spells but we have to work. There were some great spells in how we kept the ball and attacked. There is still potential and they can still play.

"I think they have a young squad and Academy talent and I think it's important to develop their progress. I was observing and analysing the game and from there we can work in the coming weeks to progress for a win.

"You are working on something to see if there is a line, some progression. Last week there was progression but I didn't see a line of progression, only a little bit in a couple of spells and too little to be a threat. But I don't feel any pressure. Just healthy tension. I think it's always nice to feel the atmosphere, not the pressure."
