Davies expecting much better

Birmingham's Curtis Davies admitted his side are "pretty fortunate" to still be in contention in their play-off semi-final with Blackpool.

The Tangerines travel to St Andrews in the second leg leading 1-0 after a below-par performance from Chris Hughton's team on Friday night.

"We're pretty fortunate that it's only one-nil," Davies told the Birmingham Mail. "We didn't keep the ball well enough, we know with this side that when they do get the ball they play quick passing and try and get as many men forward as possible.

"If we just keep giving the ball back to them then that's what they're going to keep doing - and that's what happened.

"It's one of those things. We'll take it back to St Andrew's and hopefully we'll get a better result."
