Davies out for rest of season
Striker Steven Davies will likely miss the rest of the season after Blackpool confirmed he will need an operation on his groin.
The 26-year-old forward was an unused substitute in last weekend's 3-1 loss to Leicester and caretaker manager Barry Ferguson confirmed the problem is more serious than first thought.
"Steve Davies is now out for the rest of the season, probably," Ferguson said.
"He's got a groin problem. I don't really know the details but I know he's probably going to go in for an operation."
The Seasiders' attacking options were depleted when Thomas Ince left for Crystal Palace on loan at the end of the January transfer window and, following the news that Davies will be out for some considerable time, Ferguson intends to delve into the loan market before next Thursday's deadline.
The Scot is keen to add another physical presence up front with Ricardo Fuller the only player currently on Blackpool's books capable of playing in that role.
Davies, a summer signing at Bloomfield Road, has played 29 times this season, scoring on three occasions, including on his debut in the 3-1 win over Doncaster.
