Port Vale defender Joe Davis is hoping to make the most of his opportunity against Forest Green in the FA Cup at the weekend.
The 18-year-old is expected to be handed a start in Vale's rearguard for the trip to the New Lawn as regular centre-backs John McCombe and Gareth Owen are unavailable.
"I am really looking forward to the challenge," Davis told the club's official website.
"If I do well on Saturday, then hopefully I can keep my place on Tuesday. I just want to stay in the side for as long as I can, that's my main target at the minute.
"I would have liked to have been involved more at the start of the season, but I am getting back into it now.
"I want to establish myself and play week in, week out for a couple of seasons and see how I do. It would be nice to see how I do over a longer period of time, rather than just every now and again."
