Days Hotel team mull options

Henry de Bromhead is considering the options for Days Hotel following his fourth place in the Clarence House Chase at Ascot.

The nine-year-old was having his second crack in Grade One company after finishing a well-beaten third behind Sprinter Sacre in the Champion Chase at Punchestown last April.

Days Hotel was not disgraced against impressive winner Sire De Grugy and while De Bromhead is not totally writing off another run at the highest level for his charge, he could look for a slightly easier option in the interim.

He said: "He is good after the run, it just looked like he got outpaced, they just looked a gear faster than him over there, but he stayed on well so I was happy enough with the run.

"He will now either go for the Red Mills at Gowran (February 15) or the race at Naas, the Newlands (the Chase on February 23).

"I don't know whether he will go to Cheltenham, that is up to his owners. There is the Webster Cup over two and a half miles at Navan that might be more for him.

"Richard Johnson thought that if the Ryanair cut up it might be worth having a look, he is entered in that so we will see.

"He looks like a Grade Two horse to me anyway. That's twice he has run in Grade Ones, but they have been over two miles, so I don't know for sure, we will see."
