De Sanctis undergoes surgery

Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis has undergone successful arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow and will be sidelined for two months.

De Sanctis, who made 36 league appearances to help Roma finish as runners-up to Juventus in Serie A in 2013-14, had struggled with pain in his elbow over recent months.

A statement from Roma read: "Morgan De Sanctis underwent surgery at Sassuolo's Nuovo Ospedale today for the arthroscopic debridement of his right elbow.

"The operation was a complete success.

"The player will observe seven days of complete rest before beginning his rehabilitation.

"He is expected to recover in approximately two months."

The 37-year-old is set to recover in time to join his team for pre-season training in the United States in mid-July.
