South Africa captain AB de Villiers will miss the next two ODIs against New Zealand after being suspended following their slow over-rate in the first one-dayer in Paarl.
The Proteas were ruled to be six over short of their target and De Villiers pleaded guilty to the offence, resulting in a suspension for the captain, while the entire South African team were fined 100% of their match fees.
De Villiers will miss the next two ODIs in Kimberley and Potchefstroom on January 22 and January 25.
If he is found guilty of a second serious over-rate offence in an ODI over the next 12 months, a penalty of between two and eight suspension points will be sanctioned.
It has been reported that David Miller will be brought in as a replacement player for the remaining two ODIs, with either Hashim Amla or Faf du Plessis stepping in as captain.
