Debut win delights Caton-Brown

Mason Caton-Brown has expressed his delight at helping Salford to a stunning victory over Huddersfield Giants on Saturday, his first Super League win of the season.

The 21-year-old Enfield-born talent joined the Red Devils last month from the London Broncos on a two-and-a-half year contract and he made his first appearance for his new employers at the John Smith's Stadium.

Caton-Brown showed why he is one of the game's rising talents with numerous breaks in the game, while he capped a fine performance with a long-range try in the second half.

The youngster endured a difficult time with London Broncos as the capital club failed to win a top-flight game in 2014, a record Caton-Brown has now personally ended as he finally found himself on the victorious team again.

\"It was good,\" Caton-Brown told Sky Sports on collecting the points on Saturday. \"It was good to be part of a winning team for once.

\"You always go into a game wanting to win. It's just nice there's a whole team that can put that together.

\"There's a lot of experience in the team. It's good to feed off them and to play in a more experienced team.\"

Head coach Iestyn Harris is not ruling out a late-season run for the playoffs and Caton-Brown insists the squad have belief a top-eight finish is possible.

\"Everyone's positive. We've got eight games left to get into the top eight,\" he continued.

\"Everyone's gunning for it, everyone's positive. We've just got to take it week by week and see how we do.\"

Next up for Salford are Hull FC and Caton-Brown sees no reason why the Red Devils cannot make it back-to-back wins, especially given the form of fellow new signing Kevin Locke.

The New Zealand international only arrived in England last week after securing his release from New Zealand Warriors yet he played a key role as Salford bagged the points at Huddersfield, kicking six goals and also crossing for a try.

\"Hopefully we'll have a good training week. It's my first home game as well which will be good. Hopefully there'll be a big crowd.

\"It's good to be playing alongside an experienced player like Kevin Locke. There's loads of them here like Adrian Morley, Rangi Chase and Junior Sa'u, there's some big names in the team. It's exciting and good to be part of.

\"Kevin looked really sharp. He'd only got off the plane a few days before the match.\"
