Deng leads Bulls to victory

Luol Deng scored a season-high 33 points as the Chicago Bulls beat the New York Knicks 108-101 in the NBA on Friday night.

The Knicks registered their third victory over the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division leaders this season.

Deng completed 13 of 18 from the field, while also playing a key role in negating the threat of the ever-dangerous Carmelo Anthony, whose 39 points were not enough.

Carlos Boozer once again impressed with 17 points as the Bulls moved to two wins behind Eastern Conference Central pace-setters Indiana, while this defeat was the Knicks' third in a row.

Brooklyn Nets kept the pressure on the Knicks with a 99-79 triumph over the Phoenix Suns to move to one win behind their city rivals.

Joe Johnson top scored with 19 points and MarShon Brooks added 17 points off the bench, while Jared Dudley led the Suns with 18 points and Shannon Brown had 15 off the bench for Phoenix who have now lost five straight.

Kevin Durrant made a season-high 42 points as the Oakland City Thunder eased to a 116-101 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, who suffered their sixth successive defeat.

Atlanta Hawks battled back from 15 points behind to beat the Utah Jazz 103-95 with Devin Harris leading the way scoring a season-high 24 points.

Randy Foye top scored with 25 for Utah, who went into the match off the back of four wins in their last five, while Al Jefferson had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Paul Milsap had 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Boston Celtics extended their winning streak to five matches with a 103-91 win over the Houston Rockets.

Paul Pierce top scored with 23 - 16 of which came in the second half - while Kevin Garnett contributed 17 points and four blocks.

Rudy Gay's late basket sealed a 101-98 win for the Memphis Grizzlies who needed overtime to beat the San Antonio Spurs.

It was their fourth straight victory and their first over their Southwest Division rival since the 2011 playoffs.

Denver Nuggets picked up their third win on the spin, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-91, with Danilo Gallinari's 23 points leading the way.

Elsewhere Toronto Raptors won for the 10th time in 13 games, beating the Charlotte Bobcats 99-78, Detroit Pistons were 103-87 victors over the Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers won 103-97 at the Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Hornets won 104-92 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
