Derrey takes Turkish title

Valentine Derrey claimed her first win on the Ladies European Tour on Sunday with a two-shot victory in the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open.

Derrey carded a final round of 70 at National Golf Club in Antalya to finish seven under par, with Denmark's Malene Jorgensen second on five under after a closing 73.

England's Charley Hull was in contention for her second victory when she birdied the 14th and 15th, but crucially bogeyed the 16th and had to settle for third place on three under after a 72.

Derrey, who carded four birdies and one bogey, said: "I was very happy with myself. I played decent golf and just played my own game, made some birdies and it worked out finally."

That was a reference to twice finishing runner-up last season and Derrey added: "I learnt how to stay patient and play my own golf because you can't control what others do."

Czech teenager Klara Spilkova took a one-shot lead into the final round and was briefly four clear after birdies on the second and third, but collapsed to an inward 42 for a closing 78 that left her in a tie for sixth.

Scotland's Vikki Laing had been Spilkova's nearest challenger but also struggled on Sunday, carding a 76 to finish joint fourth on three under.
