Diamondbacks shine against Dodgers
Arizona Diamondbacks defeated Los Angeles Dodgers 18-7 on Saturday in a record-setting surge at Chase Field.
The Diamondbacks' offense produced franchise records in hits (21), extra-base hits (13) and runs, as Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, who was making his third start since returning from the injured list, could not get out of a wild second where Arizona scored seven.
The Dodgers came back into the game with a five-run sixth inning but four runs in the seventh and eighth for Arizona after a run in the sixth saw them romp to victory.
Elsewhere, Philadelphia Phillies' Cole Hamels won his 100th game against the Cincinnati Reds to remain undefeated in his career against the franchise after he allowed one run over seven innings with 10 strikeouts as the Phillies won 12-1.
Detroit Tigers claimed their sixth straight win with a 6-1 victory over Boston Red Sox while Edwin Jackson struck out 11 Brewers over seven scoreless innings as Chicago Cubs beat Milwaukee 3-0.
St Louis Cardinals defeated Atlanta Braves 4-1, New York Mets tasted a 5-2 win over Washington Nationals and Mark Teixeira hit his 350th homer as New York Yankees beat Pittsburgh Pirates 7-1.
Meanwhile, Jason Castro's three-run homer capped a four-run first inning which saw Houston Astros well on their way to beating Chicago White Sox 6-5 and Oakland Athletics beat Cleveland Indians 6-2.
Kansas City Royals edged out Baltimore Orioles 1-0 while Minnesota Twins defeated Seattle Mariners 4-3, Toronto Blue Jays beat Texas Rangers 4-2, San Diego Padres won 8-5 against Colorado Rockies, Miami Dolphins beat San Francisco Giants 5-0 and Los Angeles Angels saw off Tampa Bay Rays 6-0.
